Replace The golf grips

When you have an older golf club, it's common for the golf grips to start to fray and become ragged. Many people choose to simply replace the golf club at this point. However, you can save yourself a lot of money and save your favorite set of clubs by simply replacing the golf grips yourself. Putting golf grips onto your favorite clubs takes some patience, so you can make sure the grips are on properly to ensure a proper swing.

  1. Step 1

Clamp your golf club onto a vise grip. It is just a safer practice to work with your projects held down. Now you have two free hands and more control of the grip itself.

  2. Step 2

Cut off the old grip. With your knife or box cutter, cut vertically down the handle and into small pieces. Do this so that you are not left with pieces that do not want to come off.

  3. Step 3

Use your glue or double-sided tape by applying the glue all around the handle of the club or by wrapping the double-sided tape around the club. If you're using tape, don't let the tape overlap itself, because you want the grip to fit evenly on the club. Wrap the tape in small pieces horizontally as if you are wrapping a bandage around someone's arm. Make sure the tape is layered or the glue is spread evenly over the whole area.

  4. Step 4

Slip your new gripping over the end of the golf club. Do this lightly so as not to smear the glue or upset the tape wrapping. Once you have the grip on, squeeze it evenly around the handle.

  5. Step 5

Let it dry for about an hour or two. Make sure the area is somewhere warm and dry, such as your garage in the summertime. Also, be sure that no one is going to pick it up and play with it, such as children or pets.
